DUKA Making Headlines

News...

Deaf UK Athletics always welcomes publicity opportunities. As many of you are aware, Deaf athletes are not in the Paralympics. For this reason, deaf sports miss out on funding provided to those who are in the Olympics and Paralympics. Of course this is not fair!

Publicity is a very good method to attract sponsorship and other kinds of funding. It is a good idea for athletes, volunteers and supporters of DUKA to speak to their local news paper to try to get funding.

The British Deaf News is the main magazine for Deaf people, hard of hearing and their relatives, friends, families and Sign Language students. DUKA is proud to have its athlete proudly on the front cover of British Deaf News’ May 2008 edition. The edition covered news of our participation at the European Deaf Indoor Championships in Genoa, Feb-Mar 2008.
