The idea for the DUKA Ranking List is to identify the most talented and top ranked deaf athletes in the UK. The reward for ranking top could be a place in the GB team for the Deaflympics.
Not sure , in exceptional cases, top ranked athletes could be placed high enough to represent GB in the Olympics! Yes, Olympics!
Joanne ‘Sporty Jo’ Davison who was off sick for some time is showing her old World Record form again by consistently throwing above 46m in training. Recently, she won the Sussex Veterans League match in Eastbourne, with a massive throw of 47.91m. Wow! Jo said: “I am happy to be returning to my WR form again. It has been difficult winter period. I am hoping that I will remain healthy through the summer season and be ready to peak in Turkey. This is my aim for this year. I was gutted to miss the European Deaf Championships in Sofia last year.
I am happy to support the DUKA ranking list. I hope everyone will support it and send in their results, just as I have done.” Sportjo is currently ranked 22nd in the UK mainstream ranking list and top in the deaf list. You can view the mainstream ranking list by clicking: power of 10
