"UK Sport, as part of its overall sporting excellence remit, is committed to promoting ethically fair and drug-free sport, with the aim of producing sportsmen and women who are competing and winning fairly.
Athletes are influential role models.
The use of doping substances or doping methods to enhance performance is cheating, unfair and contrary to the spirit of fair competition. Drug misuse can be harmful to an athlete's health or to other athletes competing in the sport. It severely damages the integrity, image and value of sport, whether or not the motivation to use drugs is to improve performance.
It is very important that you take the time to visit the UK Sport website and learn about the rules and condition regarding Drugs and Doping
The page link is www.uksport.gov.uk/generic_template.asp?id=12170
When we have time here at UKDS offices we will go through the UK Sport doping and drugs pages and try and create a plain English guidelines for you and your team.
HOWEVER do not wait for the 'deaf version' as it may not happen for some time and it is important that you begin to stress home to your athletes NOW that drugs and medication could be tricky and therefore people should be thinking about abstaining from recreational drug use now as toxins remain in bloodstream for up to 6 months and also for the few who will be on medication they need to get these checked out against the permitted substances
It is the responsibility of all athletes to read and understand the codes on drugs, anti-doping and supplements. If you are not clear please ask someone to help with the translation, as not understanding the information is no excuse for breaking the code.
In the mean time you must make every effort to understand and follow the code and other information.
You will need to have Adobe Reader pdf reader installed on your computer.
